Barack Obama took office in Jan 2009.   Unemployment rate (Bureau of Labor Statistics) Jan 2009 - 7.6 % Jan 2012 - 8.5% Increased 1% (predicted to rise when Jan figures are announced Feb 3rd unemployment has gone as high as 10% during the Obama presidency)
